Yield Formula
estimatedHarvest = fieldArea × yieldPerArea; lossAmount = estimatedHarvest × (lossPercentage / 100); marketableYield = estimatedHarvest − lossAmount

How this calculator works
  1. Enter your field area and select hectares or acres.
  2. Enter the expected yield per unit area and select the output unit (kg, ton, bushel, or lb).
  3. Estimate the percentage of crop loss from field conditions, harvesting, handling, and storage.
  4. The calculator shows total estimated harvest, the loss amount, and the marketable yield.
Worked Examples

Wheat field estimation

  • ["10 ha, 5000 kg/ha, 10% loss"]

Estimated harvest: 50,000 kg. Marketable yield: 45,000 kg.

A 10% loss is typical for wheat under good conditions.

Corn field with acre units

  • ["100 acres, 180 bushel/acre, 5% loss"]

Estimated harvest: 18,000 bushel. Marketable yield: 17,100 bushel.

Corn yields are often expressed in bushels per acre in North America.

Rice paddy with high loss

  • ["5 ha, 6000 kg/ha, 20% loss"]

Estimated harvest: 30,000 kg. Marketable yield: 24,000 kg.

Higher loss percentages may indicate pest damage or adverse weather.
